EPPO-Q-bank

A database to support plant pest diagnostic activities

All samples included in Q-bank must be vouchered in a recognized and publicly available culture collection located at an academic institution, museum, or government facility and carefully identified by specialists.

The vouchering of specimens into collections can be done by the person providing the specimen or, if so desired, by the Q-bank curators of the taxon involved. In the former case, the voucher information (e.g., name and accession number) must be provided with the specimen. In the latter case, the voucher information will be forwarded to the donor of the specimen by the Q-bank curators of the taxon involved. In both cases, the voucher information will be made available along with the sequence data in the QBOL database.

Minimum information required for all contributions should include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Collection records (host/source and locality. Preferably also name of collector and collection date)
  • Culture accession number(s) from culture collection(s)
  • Sequence data for the ITS region (internal transcribed spacers 1 and 2 and the 5.8S nrRNA gene); for additional genes refer to the methodology of the relevant genus

Once your data is added into the database, your name and/or institution name will be credited on the Q-bank website.

For additional information, feel free to contact any of the curators listed on the Fungi Home page of Q-bank.
